Courtney Colwell, MA, LMFT
I became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist because I believe that relationships are key to how people feel in their lives. Connection with others is how we learn, grow and change over time, yet those connections are not always easy. Dealing with road blocks and detours is part of life even in relationships and sometimes we need help navigating the journey.
Approaching therapy with a mindful, supportive and active energy, I work alongside individuals, couples and families to help them cope with struggles they are facing and chart a course for positive change. Whatever the unique challenges you or your relationships are facing, I encourage growth by challenging the "inner-critics" and negative cycles and look with you for new solutions for the healthier, happier life you seek.
After 15 years in marketing communications and design, my own journey of change led me to this inspiring work. It continues to influence my creative, specialized and thoughtful style. For the last 4 years I have been providing outpatient psychotherapy in several settings with individuals, couples, families, adolescents and kids. My background also includes leading wilderness trips in the Boundary Waters and facilitating self-esteem and empowerment groups for women.
Personally, I love being married and chasing two little active boys (most days), both of which give me windows into the challenges, joys, ongoing patience and work it takes to lead healthy relationships. When not at work I am digging in my garden, spending time with friends and family, practicing yoga and being mindful when possible, and kind to myself in the moments when life gets a little too full.
